Risk assessment & Legal and ethical issues

-Idea A
Business Cards
-Preproduction materials and visualizations of initial idea
I thought that this idea would be very successful as a business card can be displayed anywhere; it could be for a corporate or a family audience. I wanted these business cards to be fairly plain but also show the audience the artistic side as our client is indeed an artist.

I want the front of the business card to be grey and the back to be white. The business card will include: Nikki’s logo, her social networking sites, her e-mail, address, what she does. I want to keep the colours to a minimum and only apply elements of our clients chosen colours so that the business card will appeal to different audiences. I will use Adobe Photoshop to create this idea; it’s quick and easy to use and the final product will hopefully look professional and to the taste of our client.

Nikki wants a number of plain fonts in the advertising products but she said she doesn’t mind if one of them was a bit more creative that the chosen font. We showed her these three fonts:

Nikki Sims… Nikki SIMS … Nikki Sims

She chose the second font which was called COPPERPLATE GOTHIC BOLD for the business card. She also wanted a hint of the colour orange within the card so that it wasn’t too bland. We thought that we should have a picture of maybe a paint splatter or paint brush etc. This would have the chosen colour included in this imagery.

I also came up with the idea of a self portrait of Nikki on the business card but in a small area/corner. I will also use photo shop to digitally paint a picture of Nikki Sims, using one of her chosen photos.

-Initial production plan
In terms of the time taken and materials used to create this piece of work I need work out how much we will charge our client for just the business card. I need to take into consideration the costs of how much it takes to run Photoshop and the time taken to complete the work. On average a free lance would charge £110 a day which is an 8hour day. Overall I think this piece of work will take me a days work. I would charge £110.

All Adobe Software- £12.99 per month
Day rate (8hours)- £110
Adobe software + Day rate + 100xprinting costs(£5)
Printing costs- 20p per A4 colour- 5 business cards to each page.

Total= £128.00

-Risk Assessment-travel to client
Meeting the client needs to include a risk assessment considering both me and my colleague will be arriving via train.

Potential Hazards of a train station: Falling into tracks (wearing suitable foot wear) Extra cautious in wet conditions, staying behind the yellow line, being cautious when entering and exiting the train.

After the train we have a 20 minute walk by a main road through to Cambridge.

Potential Hazards while walking by a main road: Stay to the pavement, cross looking both ways and be extra cautious, stay well away from the road in wet conditions (could slip and fall) walk, don’t run.

-Risk Assessment- using a computer
. Insure you are not working for a long period of time (have regular breaks)
. No liquids present at work station
. Make sure you’re sitting upright to avoid back problems
. No food present
. No wires present
. Check your computer doesn’t over-heat

-Legal & Ethical issues
In terms of creating the business card, I need to ensure that I use images from my own copy right free sources. I also need to ensure that there is no explicit material used in the product considering that this is a family friendly client and wants all her products to be suitable for families. We need to be careful about how we distribute the media that we are using to promote Nikki Sims’ so that the public don’t feel forced.

-Idea B
Post Cards
-Preproduction materials and visualization of initial Idea
Our original idea for this piece of work was to create a flyer to advertise our clients portraits which she composes for families and private clients. We agreed that a flyer in Cambridge is bad news

Website Design
-Preproduction materials and visualization of initial Idea
Our original idea for this piece of work was to create a website to advertise our clients work from each media she produces. She composes this work for families and private clients. We agreed that a website design better than her original would successfully grow her client Intel and make her business more successful as a whole.

-Legal and ethical issues

In terms of creating the website, I need to ensure that I use images from my own copy right free sources; I have used a free website creator- copyright free so that everything we design for the website will be legal. I also need to ensure that there is no explicit material used in the website considering that this is a family friendly client and wants all her products to be suitable for families. We don’t need to be careful about how we distribute the media that we are using to promote Nikki Sims’ as the public will have their own decision weather to visit the website or not.
